Yes! You can enter in a discount % or a surcharge % on an order in Crik-IT!
This will only be possible if the user entering the order has permission to change the price of items on an order. If you are an in-house or rep user and cannot edit the price of items on an order, you will not be able to apply a discount % or surcharge % on an order in Crik-IT.
Important Note: By default, Crik-IT does not allow a negative price to be entered on an order. For you to be able to apply a discount % on an order, we must first enable negative prices on Crik-IT orders. Please submit a ticket if you would like us to do so.
How It Works
When adding a new item line to an order, enter a numeric value followed by a percent sign (%) in the price field.
The value must be numeric, and must not exceed 100% or -100% if negative.
Crik-IT will take the numeric value immediately before the percent sign (%) and multiply the current Order Total by the percentage value, automatically generating the price on that line*.
Generating the discount or surcharge price on that line will only occur once you exit out of the price field (via tab or click).
*Please see the notes section below
If you want your order to contain items or services that are NOT part of the discount or surcharge, add those item lines after you've added your discount or surcharge line, since the discount or surcharge price is calculated as a percentage of the Order Total at the time the line is being calculated.
Use a negative numeric value before the percent sign (%) if you wish to apply a discount to the current Order Total.
For example, you would enter '-10%' in the price field (as shown below), to apply a $57.50 discount to an Order Total of $575; bringing the Order Total down to $517.50.
Use a positive numeric value (no need to use a '+') before the percent sign (%) if you wish to apply a surcharge to the current Order Total.
For example, you would enter '10%' in the price field (as shown below), to apply a $400 surcharge to an Order Total of $4,000; bringing the Order Total up to $4,400.
Using a surcharge % may be of use if you need apply an estimated tax percentage to a quote in Crik-IT.
We do not recommend using a surcharge % on orders in Crik-IT if you have tax setting configured in QuickBooks, as the surcharge is technically an 'item' and will be brought over to your QuickBooks transaction, where it will also be subject to tax—resulting in the 'tax' being applied twice.

NOTES
- *The price will be calculated as a percentage of the order total at the time the line is being calculated. Once the line is saved, the calculated amount will not change if other lines on the order are added, deleted, or changed.
- You can add item lines to your order after you've added your discount or surcharge line, if you want your order to contain items or services that are not discounted or surcharged.
- The percentage calculation will only work when adding a new line to the order (i.e. when the green arrow is showing), not on lines previously saved on the order.
- This can be used to calculate a surcharge for an order, if a positive percentage value is entered in the price field.
- This can be used to calculate a discount for an order, if a negative percentage value is entered in the price field.
- QuickBooks will reject any order with a negative Order Total.
