You may receive a notification that your Crik-IT Sync Manager isn't syncing your QuickBooks data with the CISM cloud. Here are the steps you should take to determine what's up.
Notes:
- CISM should not be installed on a machine that remote users log into.
- If a user uses the CISM machine to work on QuickBooks, if that user uses a different QuickBooks user name than was used when giving CISM access to your QuickBooks file, CISM will be unable to access the QuickBooks file until that user logs out of QuickBooks.
Now, some background...
The machine that CISM is installed on has to be powered on and logged onto as the same user that was used when CISM was installed. CISM is configured to automatically start up when the user logs onto that machine. When CISM is running, there will be a CISM icon in the system tray on that machine.... the icon looks like this:
If you double-click on that icon, the CISM user interface will open up (if it doesn't, check this article). From there you can cancel syncing, exit CISM, do a full sync (which you never should have to do), and start up normal syncing if it had been canceled by a user. If CISM is currently syncing as it should, you will be able to see the last time a sync occurred and the next time a sync will occur (circled in red below).
Ok... so now, let's get CISM syncing again...
First, confirm that the CISM machine is powered up and that the CISM user (i.e. the same user that was logged in when CISM was installed) is logged into that machine. If these things are not true, then start up the machine and log in as the CISM user. CISM should automatically start up when the CISM user logs into the machine.
If the CISM machine was already on and the CISM user was already logged onto the machine, then you need to see if CISM is running. Check to see if the CISM icon in the system tray. If it isn't running, start it up (you can find it in the Start Programs list, in a folder called "Crik-IT LLC"). If it is already running, double-click the icon in the system tray to open the user interface. Does it show the time the next sync is scheduled and the last sync time (as circled above in red)? If so, scheduled syncing is already running, so you should be all set.
If the next sync and last sync times aren't showing, click on the "Start Normal Sync cycles" button to start up the scheduled syncs. If that button is not enabled, first click the "Stop Syncing" button, wait a couple seconds, then click the "Start Normal Sync cycles" button.
That should fix most issues. But... what if the problem persists... or if CISM shows that errors have occurred?
The next thing to try is to click the "Kill QBW" link on the bottom right of the CISM screen. Make sure no one is in QuickBooks on the CISM machine before doing this. Clicking this will force close both the QuickBooks connection to CISM and CISM itself. CISM will then reopen automatically and syncing should resume.
Still having issues?
Although this shouldn't be necessary, the very last thing to try is to reboot the CISM machine.
