Once in a while, the CISM app will not open when you double click the CISM icon in the system tray. We've seen this happen, for example, when your QuickBooks closes abnormally, leaving CISM in an error state.
Here's what to do.
First: wait a minute or so to give CISM time to open. If a sync recently finished, CISM sends log files up to the CISM server. This can take a minute or two... and may delay the CISM app from opening. So give CISM some time to open.
If CISM doesn't open after a minute or so, we'll have to close the CISM app via the Task Manager, then re-open it from the Start menu. Here's how to do that:
- Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete at the same time, then select Task Manager. Task Manager will open.
- On the Task Manager, click More Details, as shown below. Note: Task Manager can look different in different versions of Windows. So your Task Manager may not look exactly like shown here.
- Now find the "Crik-IT CISM Syncer" in the Background Processes section.
- Next, click on Crik-IT CISM Syncer once, then click the End Task button in the lower right corner of the Task Manager. This will close CISM.
- Click the X in the upper right corner of Task Manager to close the Task Manager.
Next, we'll re-open CISM -- we have different options for doing so:
- Option 1) There should be a short-cut on the desktop that looks like this. Double-click that open CISM and syncing should now start automatically.
- Option 2) From the Windows Search area, search for "crik-it syncer", then click Open. This will open CISM and syncing should now start automatically.
