This article goes over how to create your ApprovedProductLines custom field and how to assign approved product lines to a customer.
This is meant for users who are configured to have Crik-IT determine which customer has access to which product line by looking at the ApprovedProductLines custom field at the customer level in QuickBooks.
You would want to choose this configuration option in the Crik-IT/QuickBooks Config Menu in your Crik-IT portal if you want certain customers to only have access to specific product lines (and the items they contain) in their portal. Before setting up your ApprovedProductLines custom field, you'll want to make sure you've set up product lines that Crik-IT will recognize first; click here to see how to set this up.
If you make changes to your configuration options in Crik-IT, make sure to do a full data sync by going into 'Sync Your Data' in the 'Crik-IT/QuickBooks Config Menu'.
Create the ApprovedProductLines Custom Field
Start by logging into QuickBooks and going into 'Customers'.
Drill down into any customer from your customer list.
Once drilled down into the customer, go to 'Additional Info'.
From there, under 'Custom Fields' select 'Define Fields' and enter in your ApprovedProductLines custom field.
Click 'ok' to save. Then click 'ok' again when exiting out of the item's info page.
Assign Approved Product Lines to Customers
To assign a product line to a customer, drill down into the customer for whom you want to set up approved product lines, go to 'Additional Info' then under 'Custom Fields', enter in (or select from) the product line(s) this customer should have access to in their portal. You may assign more than one approved product line to a customer.
Click 'ok' to save.
Repeat this process with all the customers for whom you want to set up approved product lines.
