First, stop CISM from Syncing
Go to the machine that CISM is currently installed on. Open CISM (click here for instructions), then click Stop Syncing, then click the X in the upper right corner of the CISM window and click Yes to close the CISM application.
Next, uninstall CISM from the machine CISM is currently on
From the machine CISM is currently installed on, go to the Windows Control Panel, Programs & Feature, uninstall CISM (shows as "CISM QB Crik-IT Syncer" in Control Panel > Program & Features).
Finally, reinstall CISM on the new CISM machine

Your CISM Password: in original email sent when you first installed CISM
If you haven't already downloaded the CISM program from the Crik-IT configuration pages, click here to do so. To install CISM, just follow the instructions below.
CISM has to be installed on a Windows machine that has Internet access, has QuickBooks is installed, and that will be logged into the network whenever anyone is using your QuickBooks system. Important: Do not install CISM on a "Terminal Server" (Installing on a Windows Server is fine, just not a Terminal Server). Make sure you always log into this machine as the user used when doing the CISM install. Ideally, CISM will be installed on a machine that is not actively used for QuickBooks usage.
Here are the steps to install CISM:
1) Run QuickBooks, open the company file for the company you want to use with Crik-IT, log in as the Admin and put into single-user mode (NOTE: You may NOT need to be in single-user mode. Try first without putting into single-user mode. Also, if need to be in single-user mode, this will only be necessary during the installation process). NOTE: if someone uses the Admin user name in QuickBooks, it's best to install CISM on that user's machine. Or set up a unique QuickBooks username to be used for CISM.
2) Run the CISM setup program downloaded previously. If given a security warning(s), go ahead and choose to run setup and install the program.
3) CISM will ask you for your CISM Company ID. Enter the CISM Company ID that was originally emailed to you. Don't have that? Click here to open a ticket requesting this info. Please provide the original email address used when first installing CISM and your company name.
4) CISM will ask you for the Company Password. Enter the CISM Password that was originally emailed to you. Don't have that? Click here to open a ticket requesting this info. Please provide the original email address used when first installing CISM and your company name.
5) CISM will ask you for the path for the company file. To get this, from the QuickBooks Home screen, hit F2 to open the Product Info screen, then highlight and copy the entire File Info Location, then -- very important -- click OK to close Product Info screen. Do NOT close QuickBooks.
6) After copying the file location, go back to the CISM screen and paste the file location, then click OK.
7) After several seconds, QuickBooks may ask you to give permission for CISM to access your QuickBooks file. If it does, choose "Yes, always; allow access even if QuickBooks is not running", and choose to login as the Admin. Then click Continue, and then Done.
CISM will then do a full-sync of your QuickBooks data, sending the data to the CISM cloud; see the note/recommendation below. CISM will automatically minimize to the system tray, and ongoing syncs will automatically happen every 30 minutes as long as this machine is on and logged into the network as the user used when installing this program.
NOTE / RECOMMENDATION:
If you have a lot of data, the full sync can take hours to complete. Since you have had CISM running on a different machine and your data is already in the CISM cloud, your CISM does not have to do a full sync... so we suggest that you these steps:
- Stop the Full Sync: After CISM connects to your QuickBooks file, it will automatically minimize to the system tray. Open the CISM user interface, then click the red STOP Syncing button. It may take a minute or so to stop syncing, then it may take a minute or more to send log files to the CISM server.
- When the sync cycle and uploading log files have completed, click the X in the upper right corner for the CISM user interface to close CISM. Respond Yes when asked to confirm.
- Wait 10 or 15 seconds to give CISM a chance to fully close, then re-open CISM. There should be a shortcut on the desktop that looks like this -- double-click that to open CISM.
- CISM will reopen and will minimize to the system tray. Now CISM will just start up the regular sync cycles, as normal... and you're all set!
